The existing Almon & Associates office building
was a single level 8,000 s.f. structure in a historic neighborhood,
most recently expanded in 1985. The plan for the 2001 expansion was
to add a 7,500 s.f. second level on the building. This idea had been
anticipated in the previous expansion, but was nevertheless a tedious
structural scenario. New office space, conference rooms, and support
area make up the porgram for the second level. The main level was also
renovated with new finishes and minor alterations. The existing stucco
of the exterior finish was continued, with a new paint scheme to freshen
it up. The result is a seamless addition that still maintains the scale
of the historic neighborhood. Perhaps the greatest success of this project
is that one can hardly tell it was done.
